Babies with cancer...
Before we get to today's blog post...
(Our family at 'THE DAILY' has a very exciting project in the works for this weekend. We're shooting an ELECTION SPECIAL this Saturday that will air on Friday September 26th in prime time on VisionTV all across the country. Find out about it, and get involved here )
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...
What follows is an email sent out by Candace Newton, our Associate Producer. You'll see--in a minute, when you read it--that it's about her granddaughter's fight with cancer. We thought we'd include it as today's blog to give you a sense of what it's like when cancer is up close and personal with someone you love...

Candace and Isabel...
"Hi everyone:
Early this morning I received a phone call from my son in Belleville informing me that Isabel was returning to the Kingston Cancer Centre in Kingston Ontario to have an urgent surgical procedure to have her bone marrow aspirated and a lumbar puncture to rule out the return of Leukemia. Her routine blood check this week revealed abnormalities and they discovered that she had a compression fracture in her spine. Needless to say they are very concerned and want to ensure that the cancer has not returned. She is 4 years old, finished 2 1/2 years of chemo this past October and we had prayed.. that she would remain cancer free. She has survived near death, 5 times and 3 in this past year alone from the treatment. If she relapses and it turns out that the cancer has returned we want to bring the family back to Vancouver where she will have access to the excellent staff at the Michael Cuccione Foundation laboratory and doctors at Children's hospital here. I will keep you informed once the test results come in either tomorrow or Thursday.
Thank-you for your prayers and understanding during this most difficult time for our family and especially Isabel as we once again, put our trust in God to sustain us during this weary battle.
Candace"
And the good news is, the tests came back, and Isabel is still in the clear.
Happy 'bout that, to say the least...
TD
