All about the kids...

The 'little man' takes the leap...
Great show coming up for you today.
Cindy Graves, Executive Director of 'Kids Up Front' is doing great work on behalf of children who could use a little 'leg up'. Say you have tickets to a B.C Lions Game ('lil plug there for our main-man Mark Washington's team...) and find out, last minute, that you can't use them. Just send 'em Cindy's way and she'll make sure a group of kids who typically would never get to a game use your tickets for the experience of a lifetime.
It's that simple.
And so is raising healthy, happy kids.
Right?
Well, maybe not so much. Seems to most of us that raising kids is one of the toughest things a person can do. The key reason, in our opinion, it's so hard is that pouring your life into the lives of your kids requires the 'death of self' (to borrow a term). In other words you've got to stop focusing on yourself and start focusing on these little lives around you.
And that's hard to do.
So hard, in fact, that many people choose not to have kids and some who do should maybe have had a chance to get a 'sneak preview' of all that having and raising kids means 'cause, chances are, once they realized the depths of sacrifice required some would--on second thought--take a pass on the whole 'family thing'.
But maybe it's a good thing we don't quite know what's coming. Of how many things in life could the same thing be said? "If we knew how hard it was going to be we'd have never started out in this direction..." But think of the riches you'd have missed. Think of the smiles, the unconditional love those little rug rats give you. Think of their arms held high toward you until you pick them up. Think of how the side of their neck smells before you tuck them into bed at night.
Untold riches.
And if you let yourself think about it too long you'll probably wimp out and stop yourself from taking the plunge, and if you did that, we're betting you'd end up a less fulfilled, less 'full' person than you are today.
So if you've got kids, or are thinking about it, here's our glass raised to yours.
Cheers to kids and their parents. Happy journeying all!
