'Aint no business like show biz-ness!
I've said many times, to people considering a leap into the wild world of entertainment that they shouldn't even think about it unless it's what they're called to.
'Called to?'
Yes, 'called'. Like 'this is the thing I have to do or my head's going to explode...' called.
The reason, of course, is because it's so hard--one of the toughest industries to break in to. The standard line is that it takes ten years of poverty before you get your first big break in show business. Time and again I meet people for whom this has been true.
And the thing is, it's not just show business that does that to you.
A lawyer friend of mine told me once it took him eight years before he really started earning a decent living. I have another friend who's a builder and--you guessed it--he's been building for 15 years and it's just in the past two that he's really seen his standard of living jump beyond 'scraping by' to something a little more civilized.
It's a long road, the road to doing what you love and feel called to do.
That's why today's episode with Walter Ruloff, Executive Producer of 'EXPELLED: the movie' starring Ben Stein is so cool.
Here's a guy who's had huge success, built upon years and years of working his tail to the bone. And here he is putting his reputation on the line for an explosive movie that's sure to get him branded a lunatic, a fundamentalist, a hate-mongerer--you name it.
I loved the guy. Loved his movie.
We think you will to.
Enjoy him folks, he's a man to admire and his journey is one to inspire.
