Our Hosts

So what motivates them?

How'd they end up doing this?

Well...

It was a rainy (what else?) day in Vancouver and home-grown TV personality Laura-lynn- Tyler Thompson (CLEARLY a name made for television) was hosting an event with Mark Washington, then star defensive back for the B.C Lions.

They hit it off.

Hit it off so good in fact that LL couldn't sleep that night.  An idea was circling in her head, and it wouldn't let her rest.

An idea for a show.

"Look, we'll call it 'The Mark and Laura-Lynn Show'--we'll talk about everyday issues from a faith perspective.  We'll keep it funny and real.  You and me!  It'll be great!  Whadd'ya say Mark?  You wanna' be a star?"

(or something like that)

And, truth be told, he wasn't that into it at first.  He's a football player, not a talking head.  I mean, he loves doing the 'talking head' thing after games, is always real comfortable with the press, but co-host a show?  Wasn't exactly in his career plans.

"C'mon it'll be fun.  We'll just shoot a pilot and see what happens..."

So they did.

Raised the money themselves, did a deal at SHAW for studio time and crew and gear.  Shot a couple shows and sent them off to the network.

Didn't hear back for months.

Then one day, a phone call.

And that phone call changed everything.

More on Laura-Lynn here.

Mark's personal blog, here.

To be continued...

THE DAILY: weekend edition

Provocatively transparent, relevant, and inspiring, THE DAILY: weekend edition is what happens when an ex-preacher loses his religion, finds his faith, and gets a national talk TV show to rant on and a bunch of leading intellectuals, politicians, captains of industry and pop-culture mavens to rant with.
